Peregrine has embarked on a sustainability journey aimed at creating value through the incorporation of sustainability within its business strategy. The Group’s sustainability journey focusses on material issues falling under the three pillars of sustainability: environmental protection, social development and economic development.
In order to achieve The Group’s sustainability goals, governance structure within the Group have been set up with the aim of building a strong mandate for sustainability to be entrenched into day-to-day operations. Peregrine’s Social and Ethics Committee reports directly to the Board on all sustainability matters. This platform enables the Committee to share risks and opportunities at the highest level within the Group as well as ensuring streamlined decision making.
In the financial year ended 31 March 2015, The Group calculated its first carbon footprint assessment as per the Greenhouse Gas Protocol. Peregrine’s 2015 carbon footprint, following the equity share approach, was evaluated at 3 591 tCO2e. The Group recently completed its second carbon footprint assessment, with the intention to continue to calculate its footprint on an annual basis, in so doing providing Peregrine with the ability to compare emissions year-on-year, set targets and assess its environmental performance.
